taste history.
Our tasting room offers an elegant, warm, and deeply personal experience rooted in the history
of Oregon wine. Guests are welcomed into a historic setting for one of the most comprehensive
guided tastings in the Umpqua Valley, featuring handmade, small-lot wines crafted by our
family and available only here at the winery. As you taste, we share the stories behind each
vineyard and each individual wine — from the land and farming choices to the winemaking
traditions that shape what is in the glass. It is a thoughtful, unhurried experience designed to

What people say about us
Hillcrest is by far one of the most reliable and authentic wine experience in southern Oregon. Over the years, I have found their flavor to be bold, big and consistent. Their adherence to tradition has yielded a palate of simply amazing wines. For a small winery in out of the way Douglas County, they are performing high art.
I had an absolutely wonderful experience at Hillcrest Winery! Han made our visit truly special – not only was she incredibly knowledgeable, but she also had such a warm and engaging personality. She shared fascinating insights about the history of the birthplace of Pinot in Oregon, and her passion for the winery and the region was evident in every detail. It was clear that she genuinely enjoys sharing the story behind each wine. Han’s expertise and welcoming nature made this visit one of the best wine tours. Highly recommend visiting!

Discovered this place while wine tasting for my 5 year Anniversary. Love the atmosphere of being rustic and old school. The wine is very tasty and has plenty to choose from. The fact that this place is the oldest in Oregon, and still in operation is amazing. Highly recommend going here. Great Experience.

I first discovered this winery back in 2006, and have made it my go-to place ever since. This included "dropping by" once on the way from Eureka, California to Lincoln City, Oregon. (For those unfamiliar with the Pacific Northwest coast, this is spatially akin to driving through St. Louis on the way from Miami to New York.)
First and foremost, I love the wine. I am by no means a wine snob, or even a wine aficionado of any caliber, but I can taste the difference between Hillcrest and other wines. It just tastes better, simple as that.
What I love just as much as the wine, however, is the folks that run Hillcrest. Whether it's Dyson, or his wife, Susan, or one of the many long-time people they have working there, they don't just have you taste wine, they teach you about it. As a PhD, I'm the type who can sit and listen for hours as someone explains something fascinating. The folks at Hillcrest make wine fascinating.
Now, do they always have the time to do that? Well, no, and sometimes when they're busy the discussions run a bit shorter. But whether I've had the chance to spend an hour there alone or just a few minutes amongst a crowd of people, I'm always smarter about the wines I'm drinking. You don't get that at every winery – and you'll get it nowhere like you will here.
Oh, and one more thing: Bring a camera. The views are gorgeous.
